YANA BUROVA began playing the violin at the age of five and was accepted at the Central Music School “D.Hristov” in Varna, Bulgaria to study with Mrs. R.Koleva. During that period she won various prizes and awards, including first prize in a “Czech Music Competition” and second prize in National Competition “Svetoslav Obretenov.”

Prior to completing her studies in Varna in 1998 she was chosen as a soloist with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Lalo, Spanish Symphony. Immediately following that Yana was awarded a scholarship to study with Professor Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

After graduating with a BMus(hons) in 2002 she was awarded a two-year scholarship to study with Vasko Vassilev at the Trinity College of Music, where she led the Trinity String Ensemble and was soloist with the Trinity Orchestra.

Whilst at the Trinity College of Music Yana won the J&B Beare Classical Concerto Competition over two consecutive years and in July 2004 she completed her Post Graduate Advanced Diploma with Distinction.

Yana has attended master classes led by such luminaries as: Yfrah Neaman, Mincho Minchev, Georgy Pauk and in June 2004 was selected to participate in a class led by the world renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov.

Since graduating Yana has pursued a busy career as a performer and teacher. She regularly performs throughout England in venues such as: Kings Place, Leighton House Museum, St.Martin-in-the-Fields, St.James’s Piccadilly, St. Paul’s, etc. and has participated at a number of festivals in Bulgaria. In October 2007 Yana was invited back to her home town, Varna to perform the Mozart Violin Concerto in D major with Sinfonietta Orchestra, conducted by Milko Kolarov.

In 2006 she released a CD featuring music for Violin and Piano by 20th century Bulgarian Composers.  In 2011 Yana recorded with her String Quartet “Inspirity” a world premiere of “Clarinet Quintet” written by Richard Rodney Bennett, which was released in June.

Yana has given her debut concert at the Wigmore Hall in January 2013.

Alongside performing Yana also currently teaches violin and viola at Emanuel School in London.
